University Policies

Appalachian State University monitors all criminal charges brought against Appalachian State University students in Watauga County. Depending on the type of charge and the student’s prior record, behavior may be addressed through the Office of Student Conduct, even if it occurred off-campus. Town of Boone Ordinances

The Town of Boone regulates littering, the possession of open containers of alcohol, skateboarding, bike helmet requirements, and noise within the town of Boone. Violations of the noise ordinance can lead to fines ranging from $100 to $500. Click here to read the Town of Boone Noise Ordinance.

NOTE: A noise violation in Watauga County, outside of the Town of Boone limits, will result in a misdemeanor charge that must be addressed in District Court.
