Planning Ahead for Housing
Fall Semester: October and November
Begin to think about, research, and explore housing options for the next academic year. Be sure to consider the following:
- Cost
- Location
- Type of Housing
- Roommates
Look for announcements about the AppState Housing Fair which will take place during fall semester.
Some local rental companies begin taking applications for the next year during the fall; some sign leases with new tenants before the end of the calendar year. Each company is different in terms of their timeframe and process.
University Housing opens its Reapplication Process for students currently living on-campus. Submitting an application does not commit you to live on campus; you will not be committed until you are offered on-campus housing and accept the offer to live in a residence hall. On-campus housing is not guaranteed (except to new incoming First Year students).
December
University Housing closes it's application for next year's housing (called ReApp). For questions about the Reapplication Process, contact University Housing(opens in a new tab).

Many students sign leases in the early part of the year.

Some apartments fill more quickly than others. We encourage students to secure housing for the following academic year as early as possible in the spring semester, if you have not already done so in the fall. Advance planning and research will put you in the best position to find housing that meets your needs.

You can make an appointment to review your lease with the Student Legal Clinic (opens in a new tab)before you sign it.
